The Serbia Fellowship Experience is an entirely student led initiative devoted to building cross-cultural relations between US American and Balkan youth. During our trip, we visit different cities in Serbia including Belgrade, Nis, and Blace. Nis and Blace both serve as the cities where delegates will have their host family experience.

BelgradeFrom the moment the cohort arrives in Nikola Tesla International Airport, their entire experience is headquartered in Belgrade, Serbia. In the capital city, they focus on acclimating to Serbian culture through visiting important historical sights such as St. Sava Temple, Kalemegdan, or Skadarlija.

NisHome to the University of Nis, this college city offers a unique combination of both academics and cultural immersion as one of our two host cities. As a result the continued dialogue with both the students and faculty through The Serbia Fellowship Experience, an official academic partnership now exists between The University of Alabama and the University of Nis. Delegates who are hosted here may expect to interact with college students like themselves in many different ways whether it be through engaging in structured discussions or simply grabbing coffee in the nearest café.

BlaceLocated in southern Serbia, the municipality of Blace is known not only for its agriculture but also the immense hospitality of its citizens. From home cooked meals to traditional celebrations, when visiting Blace one is sure to gain an authentic Serbian experience. While in Blace, delegates will be extremely involved in community actives like playing soccer with the local youth.
